Indirect questions with a question word
The question word remains, while the conjugated verb moves to the end.
- Wann kommt der Zug? → Ich weiß nicht, wann der Zug kommt.
- Wo wohnt Mia? → Er fragt, wo Mia wohnt.
- Warum fehlt Paul? → Kannst du mir sagen, warum Paul fehlt?
Yes/no questions
Indirect questions with ob
If the direct question has no question word, the indirect clause begins with ob.
- Kommt der Bus? → Ich weiß nicht, ob der Bus kommt.
- Hat sie Zeit? → Er fragt, ob sie Zeit hat.
